President-elect Donald Trump has called for California Governor Gavin Newsom to resign as the Los Angeles wildfires continue to rage on, making the city look apocalyptic.

The call for resignation comes after Trump said Newsom, who he refers to as ‘Gavin Newscum,” was at fault for the disaster, criticizing him for focusing on environmental policies over those of the residents in the Golden State.
In a new Truth Social post, Trump called on Newsom (D-Calif.) to resign, emphasizing his stance that the governor is “at fault” for the disaster.
Trump wrote: “One of the best and most beautiful parts of the United States of America is burning down to the ground. It’s ashes, and Gavin Newscum should resign. This is all his fault!!!”
While speaking to CNN’s Anderson Cooper amid the figures in Los Angeles on Wednesday, Newsom looked visibly hurt by the remarks by Trump.
“People are literally fleeing. People have lost their lives. Kids lost their schools, families completely torn asunder, churches burned down,” he said.
Newsom avoided going further in on Trump: “I have a lot of thoughts and I know what I want to say… I won’t.”
He then went after Trump for trying to “politicize” the disaster, while contrasting him with President Joe Biden.
“I stood next to a President of the United States of America today, and I was proud to be with Joe Biden. And he had the backs of every single person in this community. He didn’t play politics, didn’t try to divide any of us.”
It followed Newsom’s press office slamming Trump for claiming he could demand water flow into California at any time and isn’t doing so on purpose.
“There is no such document as the water restoration declaration – that is pure fiction,” a spokesperson for Newsom wrote.
“The Governor is focused on protecting people, not playing politics, and making sure firefighters have all the resources they need.”
Trump slammed Newsom on Wednesday saying he was unprepared for the devastating wildfires in a post on Truth Social.
“Governor Gavin Newscum refused to sign the water restoration declaration put before him that would have allowed millions of gallons of water, from excess rain and snow melt from the North, to flow daily into many parts of California, including the areas that are currently burning in a virtually apocalyptic way.”
“He wanted to protect an essentially worthless fish called a smelt, by giving it less water (it didn’t work!), but didn’t care about the people of California,” the statement continued.
“Now the ultimate price is being paid. I will demand that this incompetent governor allow beautiful, clean, fresh water to FLOW INTO CALIFORNIA! He is the blame for this. On top of it all, no water for fire hydrants, not firefighting planes. A true disaster!”
Meanwhile, at least five people have died from the fires so far, with over 2,000 structures destroyed and thousands of people being left with nothing but ash across the city.
Additionally, the death toll is expected to rise as police and fire services prepare to deploy K-9 units to find human remains.
The biggest fire so far has consumed almost 12,000 acres in the Pacific Palisades, which is home to famous celebrities.
Over 130,000 people are still under evacuation orders as celebrities posted to social media to announce they lost their homes.
Mandy Moore, Cary Elwes, Paris Hilton, James Woods, Billy Crystal and his wife Janice all claimed to have seen their homes go up in smoke in the Palisades Fire.
AccuWeather has already estimated an economic loss of a staggering $50 billion from the historic damage.
