Former President Donald Trump and his team kindly invited 275 Florida Power & Light Company linemen to stay at his golf resort in Miami on Wednesday, as they prepare to respond to the aftermath of the incoming Hurricane Milton.

“Honored to have 275 incredible linemen from FPL as they get ready to respond to the aftermath of Hurricane #Milton!” Trump’s son, Eric Trump, announced in a post on X, along with a video of the workers getting ready to head to their rooms.

“You are amazing and the Trump Family, and the entire state of Florida, appreciates you! Enjoy the rooms – they are the best in Florida! Be Safe!” Eric Trump added.

Hurricane Milton, which is expected to make landfall on Wednesday night, has now reportedly been downgraded to category 3 status, weakening from the category 5 rating days before it was scheduled to make landfall.

Nearly 6 million Florida residents are currently under mandatory evacuation orders in response to the hurricane, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. The storm is expected to cause mass flooding and damage critical infrastructure.

Trump’s Doral resort, where the linemen are staying, has 643 total guest rooms, 4 deluxe suites, 27 premier suites, and two presidential suites. The nightly room rates typically start at over $300.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) announced that over 50,000 linemen across the country are preparing to assist in the aftermath of Hurricane Milton, adding that the preparation is the largest staging of utility workers in U.S. history.

“As soon as that storm passes, you’re going to see the assessments and the power restoration efforts commence immediately,” DeSantis stated.

Additionally, former President Trump has also launched a GoFundMe for Hurricane Helene victims, which hit last week and impacted multiple Southeastern states. The fundraiser has been able to raise $7,657,811 million so far. It was organized by Meredith O’Rourke, the national finance director and senior advisor for the 2024 Trump campaign.

“President Donald J. Trump has launched this GoFundMe campaign as an official response for MAGA supporters to offer their financial assistance to their fellow Americans impacted by Hurricane Helene. With so many across the Southeastern U.S. facing challenges after the storm, President Trump is on the ground in communities to see the aftermath firsthand. All donations will be directed to help those most affected by Hurricane Helene. Any level of generosity will go a long way for your fellow Americans who are suffering,” the GoFundMe states.

As officials prepare for the aftermath, Vice President Kamala Harris decided to recently bash the Florida governor, accusing him of playing “political gamesmanship” after he reportedly refused to take her calls ahead of Hurricane Milton making landfall. However, these claims by Harris have been disputed by her own superior, President Joe Biden.

“People are in desperate need of support right now and playing political games with this moment, in these crisis situations, these are the height of emergency situations, it’s just utterly irresponsible, and it is selfish,” Harris stated.

Soon after, Biden spoke up and contradicted those claims, explaining that he had already talked to DeSantis and that the GOP Florida governor has done a “great job.”

“The governor of Florida has been cooperative. He said he’s gotten all that he needs. I talked to him again yesterday, and I said – no – you’re doing a great job, it’s all being done well and we thank you for it,” Biden said.

DeSantis also later stated that he had no idea Harris was even attempting to contact him, and he criticized her claims that he was “playing politics” in regards to the storm.

“I’ve worked on these hurricanes under both President Trump and President Biden. Neither of them ever tried to politicize it. She has never called on any of the storms we’ve had since she’s been vice president until apparently now,” DeSantis stated. “Why, all of the sudden, is she trying to parachute in and inject herself when she’s never shown any interest in the past? We know it’s because of politics, we know it’s because of her campaign.”

“Harris is not even in the chain of command. She has no role in this,” DeSantis continued. “The idea that I should be, like, worrying about her when I’m focused on the task at hand is just quite frankly absurd.”
