As the death toll rises from Hurricane Helene, devastating Americans in affected regions, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas told reporters that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)  “does not have the funds” to make it through the hurricane season after funding has been drained to accommodate the massive influx of illegal immigrants.

The hurricane ravaged through Florida last week as it made its way through multiple Southeastern states. It resulted in massive destruction, killing over 200 people.

“We are meeting the immediate needs with the money that we have,” Mayorkas stated.

“We are expecting another hurricane hitting,” he continued. “We do not have the funds. FEMA does not have the funds to make it through the season and what – what is imminent.”

Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody destroyed Mayorkas for his comment, criticizing the secretary for draining FEMA funds on migrants, which totals to over $1 billion.

“Everyone should be waking up this morning outraged by that comment. This is not something that has just happened recently. And Florida’s been warning about this since this administration took over. Mayorkas has come in like a virus and infected what need[s] to be healthy, strong, fundamental programs to ensure the stability and safety of Americans in times of disaster,” she stated.

“They have taken the FEMA emergency food and shelter program and over time siphoned off hundreds of millions of dollars into basically making it an illegal immigration resettlement program,” she continued. “Right now in Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, all of these states are hurting because of this truly natural disaster, not a Biden-Harris-made disaster. They’re saying we need more money. And of course, they need more money because they’ve been laundering it from the intended purpose of this fund that Congress set forth. Laws be damned.”

Republican lawmakers who were outraged by the misuse of funds took to social media to express their frustration.

Texas Governor Greg Abott (R-Texas) also responded to the crisis, stating “This is easy. Mayorkas and FEMA – immediately stop spending money on illegal immigration resettlement and redirect those funds to areas hit by the hurricane. Put Americans first.”

Abbott, the governor of a border state, has battled with Democrats, opting to bus migrants to blue sanctuary cities after President Joe Biden got rid of former President Donald Trump’s “Remain in Mexico” policy.

A meager $4 million has made its way to individuals and families impacted by the hurricane, according to White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.

The $4 million figure stems from a $10 million FEMA allocation which officials announced would provide impacted individuals grants of $750 for essential items.

Despite the lackluster funding, Biden reiterated the potential costs on Wednesday, stating “It’s going to cost billions of dollars to deal with this storm and all the communities affected. And Congress has an obligation to ensure the states have the resources they need.”

“FEMA spending over a billion dollars on illegals while they leave Americans stranded and without help is treasonous. U.S. citizens are dying. Pray for our country folks,” wrote Representative Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.).

“The Biden-Harris FEMA spent over $1 BILLION on funding illegal aliens. America LAST,” Representative Eli Crane (R-Ariz.) added.
