According to a report by Real Clear Politics’ Susan Crabtree, the Secret Service agent abandoned her post to breastfeed her infant right before Trump’s North Carolina rally on Wednesday.
Crabtree continued stating that the site agent that was in charge of security for the event found the agent breastfeeding her child in a room that was supposed to be set aside for Secret Service “official work.” This occurred five minutes before Trump’s motorcade arrived.
Reportedly, the woman was in the room with two other family members.
According to Crabtree, she and her family got around the Uniformed Division checkpoint and were led to the room by a staff member who wasn’t authorized to be there.
When contacted about the incident, Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said the incident did not have an impact on the event and it’s under review.
“All employees of the U.S. Secret Service are held to the highest standards,” he said. “While there was no impact to the North Carolina event, the specifics of this incident are being examined. Given this is a personnel matter, we are not in a position to comment further.”
This comes a month after the July 13th failed assassination attempt on Trump’s life that prompted the agency’s former director, Kimberly Cheatle, to resign from her role after a heated congressional testimony.
