Landry (R-La.) took the oath of office during his inauguration on Sunday.

The ceremony was originally scheduled for Monday. However, it was moved up due to weather concerns.

Landry begins a new era of conservative leadership, as he is the first Republican to be elected as Louisiana’s governor in eight years.

“God shined his light on our government,” Landry said. “Tomorrow, he promises blessings that he will shower on the entire state.”

Landry called for unity and promised to tackle crime. He also assured citizens that he will make life better for all Louisiana residents.

He will officially begin his duties on Monday.
