A 12-Year-Old Is Charged With Murder In The Killing Of A Sonic Employee

A 12-year-old Texas boy has been charged with murder for the shooting of a Sonic restaurant employee.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office shared the verdict to social media on Sunday. 

Matthew Davis, 32, berated Angel Gomez, 20, for reportedly urinating in the parking lot of the Keene, Texas, restaurant on Saturday. A physical altercation ensued and then the minor allegedly shot Davis multiple times with an AR-style-22- caliber rifle from the back seat of Gomez’s vehicle, according to the Keene Police Department. 

According to police, the juvenile fled the scene with Gomez who is his uncle. Davis was then transported to the hospital, where he later died. 

Additionally, police said Gomez returned to the scene and he was arrested. His nephew was arrested after authorities’ investigation led officials to a location in Rio Vista. 

Police also discovered and confiscated several firearms from the minor after he was arrested.

Gomez and his nephew were both charged with murder, according to authorities.
