On Tuesday, Adams (D-N.Y.) casted his ballot, stating he endorses the vice president.

“The same person I endorsed,” Adams said. “VP Kamala Harris.”

The New York mayor refused to answer any further questions regarding his endorsement, stating that voicing his opinion would amount to “electioneering.”

On Monday, Adams was asked who he was supporting in the 2024 election during a briefing at City Hall.

“I have to be extremely careful,” Adams told reporters. “Everything I do is critiqued highly, and I have to be careful, and if I’m doing electioneering here at this podium, you’re gonna write a story about it… So you’re damned if you do, you’re damned if you don’t.”

“Who I endorsed is who I’m voting for,” he said, and noted he’d be watching the results with his son, Jordan.

When Harris first became the Democrat presidential nominee, Adams endorsed her. However, he has since been quiet about her candidacy.

The mayor said he was given legal advice to be extra careful with his words while conducting mayoral duties since he has been indicted on federal bribery and corruption charges in late September.

Adams stated that he voted during the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in August as a delegate for Harris’s nomination.

He has pleaded not guilty to all charges and stated that he was targeted by the federal government for being a critic of the current migrant crisis in the state.
