A new poll suggests that Arab-American and Muslim voters are turning away from Kamala Harris and embracing third-party candidate Jill Stein in numbers that could keep Harris from winning battleground states in the November 5th election.

A Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) poll released in September of this month revealed that in Michigan, 40% of Muslim voters supported Stein, while 18% backed Donald Trump and Harris received 12% of the support.

The latest numbers released come as the Biden administration has been highly criticized for the U.S.’ support of Israel in their war against Hamas.

Additionally, Stein leads Harris among Muslims in Arizona and Wisconsin, which are key battleground states with sizable Muslim populations.

Meanwhile, Harris was leading Muslim voters in Georgia and Pennsylvania, with Trump leading in Nevada with 27%, just ahead of Harris’ 26%, according to the CAIR poll of 1,155 Muslim voters nationwide.

Close to 3.5 million Americans reported being of Middle Eastern descent in the 2020 U.S. Census, the first year the specific data was recorded.

Harris called for the end of the Israel-Hamas war and asked for the hostages to be returned out of Hamas’ control on Tuesday. She then stated that Israel should not reoccupy the Palestinian enclave and supported a two-state solution.

“Decades of community organizing and civic engagement and mobilizing have not manifested into any benefit,” said Faye Nemer, founder of the Michigan-based MENA American Chamber of Commerce to promote U.S. trade with the Middle East.

“We’re part of the fabric of this country, but our concerns are not taken into consideration,” she said.

With the discourse between Trump and Harris, Stein’s campaign has taken advantage.

Stein has called for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, a U.S. arms embargo on Israel, and backing student movements to break away from weapons makers.

To appeal to the demographic, the Trump campaign has hosted in-person and virtual events in Arizona and Michigan. The 45th president has promised during his campaign to negotiate more Arab-Israeli peace deals, presenting himself as the candidate to bring peace to the Middle East.
