A Houthi hypersonic ballistic missile hit central Israel on Sunday. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed that the Yemen-based terror group will pay a “heavy price” for the attack.

Air raid sirens were heard in Tel Aviv, as well as across central Israel, prior to the missile being intercepted in the air. Shrapnel pieces, along with smoke, were reportedly seen in an open field in central Israel.
There were no reported direct casualties from the impact, although there were nine people lightly injured while seeking cover.
The downed Houthi missile was the furthest ranging missile attack, nearly 1,300 miles away from Yemen. IDF officials have stated they will investigate how the missile was able to make its way into central Israel without being intercepted by the country’s missile defense system.
The terror group, an extension of Iran’s axis of terror, has claimed that the missile was a new type of hypersonic missile, which offers some inkling as to why the missile wasn’t shot down immediately.
The Houthis “should have known by now that we exact a heavy price for any attempt to harm us,” Netanyahu stated. “Anyone who attacks us will not escape from our arms.”
A Houthi spokesperson stated that Israel should expect more attacks “as we approach the first anniversary of the Oct. 7 operation, including responding to its aggression on the city of Hodeidah.”
The Yemeni city of Hodeidah was struck by Israel, killing three and injuring 80 more, in response to an attack on Tel Aviv which ended with one dead and eight others wounded.
The Houthi spokesperson was referring to the deadly October 7th Hamas attack on Israel which resulted in nearly 1,200 deaths, and triggered the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
