Actor and filmmaker Ben Stiller received a mixed reaction online after he endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris. He expressed that her 2024 candidacy has brought positive “change” to the Democrat Party in a viral video on social media.

“Just very excited about moving forward and all the energy and excitement that’s around this movement right now,” Stiller said in a video interview that was posted online by journalist Nicholas A. Ballasy. “That’s why I’m here, because it’s time for change, and it seems like it’s happening.”

Stiller joins other Hollywood celebrities, including actor George Clooney, to endorse Harris as President Biden’s successor and the Democrat Party’s nominee for president.

Stiller was asked if Harris would be able to keep up the momentum after the Democratic National Convention (DNC), with Stiller responding that she would.

“For sure,” he said, adding that the election is “going to be close but everyone’s motivated to work and make it happen.”

“And she and Tim Walz are just incredible candidates,” Stiller cont.

Ballast posted the interview to social media on Wednesday, and it garnered attention from a number of notable political commentators and online personalities.

“It is unbelievable. [Stiller] is voting for [Harris] because he wants a change from the current administration, and because he feels excitement,” Canadian professor Gad Saad wrote. “A parasitized mind that is facing a terminal illness of the capacity for human reason.”

“There will be no change,” Donald Trump Jr. said in response on Wednesday on X (Twitter). “It’s literally the Biden-Harris administration right now. Why didn’t she push for any change for the last 4 years???”

Many have also highlighted how Hollywood played a key role in placing Harris at the top of the Democrat ticket.

After initially endorsing him alongside actress Julia Roberts, George Clooney made a U-turn soon after and called for Biden to drop out of the 2024 race in a July 10th op-ed published by The New York Times. He then expressed support for Harris in the same month after Biden officially dropped out of the presidential race.

“President Biden has shown what true leadership is. He’s saving democracy once again. We’re all so excited to do whatever we can to support Vice President Harris in her historic quest,” Clooney said in a statement to CNN‘s Jake Tapper.
