In a virtual hearing on Friday, the attorney for Adams (D-N.Y) called the case “fictitious” and rejected the possibility of settling the case, leading to a heated exchange where the plaintiff’s attorney threatened a defamation lawsuit.
The lawsuit was brought forward by Lorna Beach, who alleges that Adams assaulted her in 1993 during their time in the New York Police Department (NYPD).
Friday’s hearing focused on disputes over the evidence, with the defense accusing the plaintiff of delaying the case.
The judge has scheduled a deposition of Beach for September 6th.
