The pair are set to square off on the debate stage on October 1st in New York City, hosted by CBS News.
Walz was the first candidate to agree to the debate, stating “See you on October 1, JD,” in a post on X (Twitter).
A day after Walz accepted the CBS News debate offer, JD Vance accepted the offer as well in addition to requesting a second CNN debate against the Minnesota governor.
Democrat presidential candidate Kamala Harris has also not yet confirmed that she would be partaking in a second or third debate against Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, which Vance noted in his post.
“The American people deserve as many debates as possible, which is why President Trump has challenged Kamala to three of them already. Not only do I accept the CBS debate on October 1st, I accept the CNN debate on September 18th as well. I look forward to seeing you at both!” Vance wrote on X.
Currently, both Trump and Harris have only one debate date arranged, which is taking place on September 10th, moderated by ABC News.
Additionally, Trump highlighted that he has in fact accepted two other debate offers from news networks, which the Harris campaign has not agreed to.
“We’re happy to discuss further debates after the one both campaigns have already agreed to,” claimed Michael Tyler, the Harris campaign communications director.
