Her resignation comes after widespread calls by dozens of lawmakers for her to step down following the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13th

Cheatle, a 28-year veteran of the agency, admitted during a House Oversight Committee meeting Monday that the agency’s rally response was a “failure” but still gave her agents an “A” grade for the job they performed on that day.
