Former UN ambassador and former GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley has announced that she plans to vote for former President Donald J. Trump in November’s election.

On Wednesday, during her first remarks since she suspended her bid to be the 46th president of the United States, Haley (R-S.C.) made it clear where her vote lies in November.

She said that while her former GOP rival has “not been perfect” on policies that are personally important to her, President Joe Biden’s term “has been a catastrophe.”

“As a voter, I put my priorities on a president who’s going to have the backs of our allies and hold our enemies to account, who would secure the border, no more excuses,” Haley stated. “A president who would support capitalism and freedom, a president who understands we need less debt not more debt.”

“Trump has not been perfect on these policies. I’ve made that clear, many, many times. But Biden has been a catastrophe. So, I will be voting for Trump,” she continued.

Haley made these remarks while at the Hudson Institute. She currently serves as their Walter P. Stern chair.

Her remarks are significant as she continues to earn a small percentage of votes in the Republican primary, despite dropping out of the race in March.

In last week’s Maryland GOP primary, Haley received 20% of the votes, and in Nebraska, she won 18% of the votes. She believes that Trump trying to appeal to her voting base would give him a better chance to return to the White House.
