According to a recent Rasmussen survey, 55% of participants give the government a poor rating on illegal immigration. The poll also showed only 16% believe the government is doing a “good or excellent job.”
Additionally, 81% of participants believe it is important for the government to stop illegal immigration. Meanwhile, 55% of voters said that they consider it “very important” and a small number of voters at 17% believe illegal immigration is not a matter of significant importance for the government.
The survey comes after 170 Democrats voted against the Laken Riley Act, which was put in place after the Georgia student was brutally murdered by an illegal immigrant from Venezuela.
Since then, Republicans have used her death to bring attention to the ongoing crisis at the southern border. Representative Mike Collins (R-Ga.), sponsor of the Laken Riley Act, held a seat vacant during President Joe Biden’s State of the Union Address earlier this month.
