Nikki Haley, a presidential rival to GOP 2024 front-runner Donald Trump, attempted to use the E. Jean Carroll case as a means of attack on the former president. She claims that rather than discussing topics like inflation, the nation is now discussing “$83 million in damages.”

“Donald Trump wants to be the presumptive Republican nominee, and we’re talking about $83 million in damages,” Haley posted on X (Twitter).
“We’re not talking about fixing the border. We’re not talking about tackling inflation. America can do better than Donald Trump and Joe Biden,” she added.
Haley’s statement was made in response to a verdict rendered by a jury in New York, which decided that Trump should pay Carroll $83.3 million for “defaming her” in 2019 after he denied Carroll’s accusations of sexual assault in the early 1990s, despite the fact that she has no concrete proof to back up her claims.
The former governor of South Carolina neglected to address the major problems with Carroll’s whole story, which included her inability to recall the exact date of the alleged incident, a lack of witnesses, and her refusal to come forward until an opportunity arose when she needed to promote her book, “What Do We Need Men For?” in 2019, which featured a list of what Carroll said was “The Most Hideous Men of My Life.”
Throughout the years, Carroll has been very upfront about her sexuality and even published a lot of very sexual content on social media, but she never came out with these accusations. “How do you know your ‘unwanted sexual advance’ is unwanted, until you advance it?” is one of the statements from her social media posts, as well as “Relationship Advice I Got From My Dog: When in heat, chase the male until he passes out from exhaustion, then jump him!”
Haley also concealed a little-known detail when she used this case to criticize Trump.
Reid Hoffman, a frequent visitor to Epstein Island who publicly opposes Trump, was one of Carroll’s financial backers and also contributed to Haley’s campaign. He did not stop funding Haley’s campaign until last week, following her loss in New Hampshire.
Attorney Alina Habba of Donald Trump’s legal team stated over the weekend that they will appeal the decision, explaining that Trump’s’ team was not aware that Judge Lewis Kaplan had formerly coached Roberta Kaplan, the attorney for E. Jean Carroll, in the 1990s. However, the two are not related, even though they have the same last names.
“It was never disclosed. It’s insane and so incestuous,” Habba said regarding the mentorship and conflict of interest.
Additionally, Federal District Judge Lewis Kaplan has also been acquainted with Carroll’s other legal representative, Shawn Crowley. She worked as Judge Kaplan’s law clerk, and the judge even officiated her wedding, according to reports.
