The International Court of Justice is preparing to hear a case from South Africa’s government on its claims that Israel is committing a genocide in Gaza.

On Wednesday, Israeli government spokesperson Eylon Levy referred to South Africa’s claims as a “despicable intervention to save the skin of the Hamas rapist regime.”

He also noted that the accusations were a distraction from efforts to bring hostages home, protect civilians and prevent the conflict from spreading.

“We, the State of Israel will not be distracted as we continue pursuing those essential goals,” Levy said. “We, the State of Israel, will not be distracted as we continue pursuing those essential goals.”

The World Court is expected to hold sessions on South Africa’s claims on Thursday and Friday.
