The Kremlin has accused the White House of playing “Russian Threat Card” in an effort to secure funding from Congress for the war in Ukraine.

Russia’s accusation on Thursday comes after President Joe Biden said the country would eventually attack a member of NATO unless it is defeated in the Ukraine War.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Biden’s request for more funds is equivalent to burning American taxpayer money in a furnace.

“We deeply regret that the U.S. leadership continues its habit of using Russia as a tool in its domestic affairs,” he said. “In this particular case, they are engaging in absolutely blatant demonization of our country. In order to manipulate their congressmen and senators and to continue burning the money of American taxpayers in the furnace of the Ukrainian war.”

On the same day, the foreign intelligence chief for Russian President Vladimir Putin told the United States that continued western support would result in the conflict becoming “a second Vietnam.”
