Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee said that an impeachment vote on United States President Joe Biden would be a “political disaster” for House GOP members.

During an interview on Monday with “Just the News No Noise” on Real America’s Voice, Huckabee (R-Ark.) claimed that House Republicans should not attempt to impeach Biden without the support and encouragement of “some Democrats.”

“To impeach Joe Biden in the House, knowing it’s not going to go to the Senate, there’s no point,” Huckabee told Real America’s Voice on Monday. “All it becomes is a political disaster.”

He also said that Republicans should only “focus on a message that gets us elected and reminding people how much better off they were when Donald Trump was president than they have been since Joe Biden has taken the reins.”

Huckabee expressed that there is “no point” in impeaching Biden in the House while having knowledge that the case is not going to go anywhere in the Senate, which is where Democrats hold the majority.

“Until that happens, the best thing Republicans can do is keep dribbling out the information of Joe’s ties to the Communist Chinese Party and business deals,” Huckabee said.

Huckabee stated that the House should still proceed with its investigation into Biden’s impeachment, but he cautioned that the GOP should keep reminding House members that they are less fortunate with Biden in the White House until at least some Democrats show their support.

Huckabee has previously shown his support for Trump in the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.

In September, former GOP House Speaker Kevin McCarthy initiated an impeachment probe against Biden, claiming that the House inquiries into the president’s family revealed a “culture of corruption.”

“These are allegations of abuse of power, obstruction and corruption,” McCarthy said in September.

The investigation is meant to uncover how much involvement Biden had in his son Hunter’s foreign business dealings while he was vice president under Barack Obama’s administration.

Additionally, in early November, Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) stated that the investigation into an impeachment on Biden has his “full and unwavering support.”

“As we move forward toward an inflection point in this critical investigation, they have my full and unwavering support,” Johnson said of the committee chairs.
