Philippines Hit By Earthquake Of 6.7 Magnitude

A massive undersea earthquake hit the Philippines causing shopping malls to cave in.

The 6.7 earthquake on Friday hit just 16 miles away from Burias, which is the southern tip of the Philippines, the U.S. Geological Survey said. 

There were no immediate reports of injuries, and no tsunami warning was in effect. 

Social media videos showed ceilings falling at two malls with people shouting in fear. There have been no reports of injuries so far. 

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. instructed government agencies to ensure the safety and wellbeing of everyone who was affected by the quake.

The Philippines experiences earthquakes and volcanic eruptions regularly due to its location on the Pacific “Ring of Fire,” an arc of seismic faults around the ocean.

Power is currently out in southern parts of the country, according to local media in the area. 

Additionally, city government work was suspended pending structural assessments for affected areas.
