In a statement released on Wednesday, the Miami Police Department declared the case “closed.”
The case was disclosed that, due to “insufficient evidence,” prosecutors will not press charges against McGregor.
After Game 4 of the series, the Irishman was accused of “violently” thrusting himself on a woman inside a VIP men’s restroom that he allegedly pushed her into.
The woman’s attorney, Ariel Mitchell, claimed that her client was “forced” into a bathroom with McGregor and that his security crew, working alongside NBA and Heat security guards, purposely separated the woman from her friend in order to direct her towards the restrooms.
“Security refused to let [the woman] exit or allow anyone else, including her friend, inside the bathroom,” her lawyer said.
McGregor then allegedly came out of a stall and forced his “tongue in the victim’s mouth and aggressively” kissed her, she continued.
ESPN reported that an attendant was in the restroom at the time of the purported event, and the attendant did not hear any distressing calls or suspicious behavior.
Additionally, the alleged victim reportedly informed her mother that she had met the fighter during the game but “kept the encounter a secret” from her friend.
McGregor was also initially charged with “attempting to sodomize [her]” after she claimed he pushed her against the wall and “pressured her into having oral sex.”
According to Mitchell, the woman allegedly pushed McGregor away and managed to escape, but she forgot her purse during the alleged incident, which she said she “had to beg” for before it was fianlly returned.
All claims have been refuted by McGregor.
The incident happened shortly after McGregor injured a man who was dressed as the Heat mascot during a halftime show. Following a stunning left hook that knocked him to the ground, McGregor punched the mascot a second time as he was on the ground. Spectators in the stadium cheered loudly, assuming that it was a pre-planned half-time act.
