Pop star Britney Spears received a welfare check from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department due to a disturbing video she posted of herself dancing with knives.

In Spears’ concerning video posted to her Instagram, she is seen dancing around her Southern California home holding two large knives while wearing a crop top and bikini bottoms.
On Wednesday, deputies checked on the famous singer’s well-being by visiting her $7.4 million mansion, which she formerly shared with her estranged husband Sam Asghari, to “make sure she was safe.”
According to TMZ, law enforcement performed a safety and wellness check “out of an abundance of caution.” Additionally, deputies mentioned that she “was okay.”
The visit was brought about due to “several” calls to cops over the video she shared. A member of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Smart Team, which deals with mental health calls, first flagged the concern to the sheriff’s department.
After the sheriff’s department performed a welfare check on Spears, 41, they were able to establish from two different sources that she was not in any danger physically or emotionally. As a result, officials made the decision to clear the call without incident.
Just after Spears posted her knife dancing video, she took to her Instagram once again to share another choreographed video with a caption saying that she was “copying Shakira.” On September 12th, Shakira performed with knives at the MTV Video Music Awards at Prudential Center in New Jersey.
Spears’ latest video was posted Tuesday night and featured her doing her choreographed sequence with no knife.
Britney captioned the video, “Lighten up about the knives I’m copying Shakira.”
Earlier this week, the pop star announced to her fans on Instagram that the knives were not real. However, fans claimed that they heard “clanging” of knives during the video.
“I started playing in the kitchen with knives today. Don’t worry they are NOT real knives!!! Halloween is soon,” she said.
Back in January, Spears was checked on by police after she sparked concern by deleting Instagram for the seventh time in less than a year.
After deputies were sent to the “Toxic” singer’s home, they determined that there was no reason to believe she was in danger. Reportedly, police never entered her home and “left immediately” after they realized there was “no issue” upon arrival, according to Spears.
“As everyone knows the police were called to my home based on some prank phone calls,” Spears wrote on a post shared to X, formerly Twitter. “I love and adore my fans but this time things went a little too far and my privacy was invaded.”
“This felt like I was being gaslighted and bullied once the incident made it to the news and being portrayed once again in a poor and unfair light by the media,” she added.
