With temperatures creeping up, it’s time to brush up on ways to keep your four-legged family members safe…
SHADE AND WATER
Protect your pets from the suns rays and keep them hydrated.
NEVER LEAVE PETS IN CAR
The inside of you car can reach 120 degrees in just minutes.
NO ASPHALT
If it’s too hot for bare feet, it’s too hot for bare paws.
LIMIT EXERCISE
Don’t let playful pets over exert themselves in the heat.
Signs of heat stroke include:
-Heavy panting, difficulty breathing, excessive thirst
-Bright red gums
-Thick saliva, drooling, vomiting and/or diarrhea
-Disorientation
-Lethargy
For those helping our feral friends…
Provide ample fresh water to those colonies you are caring for.
Trappers—check all traps to ensure there are no cat is left in the heat.
Pour low sodium chicken or beef broth into ice cube trays. When frozen, place a few of these yummy pooch ice pops inthe food bowl with your dog’s kibble.
Pupsicle
4 cups plain, whole milk yogurt
2 tbsp peanut butter
3 ripe bananas, peeled and mashed
Milk bones
Blend first three ingredients to a purée in a food processor. Pour into 4-oz plastic cups. Place milk bone and freeze until firm. Pop the treat out of the cup.
