Comer, Grassley Compel FBI to Provide Information Alleging Biden Bribery

A key House committee issued a subpoena to the FBI on Wednesday for a document that Republican lawmakers say potentially implicates President Joe Biden in a bribery scheme while he served as vice president.

House Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., signed on to a letter with Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, the ranking member of the Senate Budget Committee, to both Attorney General Merrick Garland and FBI Director Christopher Wray.

Comer and Grassley asked for an unclassified record, referred to as an FBI FD-1023 form, which the lawmakers say alleges a scheme involving then-Vice President Joe Biden and a foreign national.

Comer issued the subpoena Wednesday after a whistleblower made a legally protected disclosure to Grassley’s office. The subpoena gives the FBI a week to produce the information.

“The information provided by a whistleblower raises concerns that then-Vice President Biden allegedly engaged in a bribery scheme with a foreign national,” Comer said in a public statement. “The American people need to know if President Biden sold out the United States of America to make money for himself. Senator Grassley and I will seek the truth to ensure accountability for the American people.”

Neither the letter nor the subpoena go into detail about what the alleged bribery involved.

“We believe the FBI possesses an unclassified internal document that includes very serious and detailed allegations implicating the current President of the United States,” Grassley said in his own written statement.

“What we don’t know is what, if anything, the FBI has done to verify these claims or investigate further,” the Iowa Republican said. “The FBI’s recent history of botching politically charged investigations demands close congressional oversight.”

Biden. elected president in 2020, served as vice president under President Barack Obama from Jan. 20, 2009, until Jan. 20, 2017.

The White House did not immediately respond to The Daily Signal’s inquiry for this report.

The House Oversight and Accountability Committee has been investigating Biden family business deals in Ukraine and China since Republicans took back the House majority in the 2022 midterm elections.

The committee’s focus primarily has been on first son Hunter Biden and the president’s brother, James Biden. However, Comer has maintained that the investigation is about the president and whether he used his public office to help his family profit.

The letter to Garland and Wray says:

We have received legally protected and highly credible unclassified whistleblower disclosures.
Based on those disclosures, it has come to our attention that the Department of Justice (DOJ) and
the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) possess an unclassified FD-1023 form that describes
an alleged criminal scheme involving then-Vice President Biden and a foreign national relating
to the exchange of money for policy decisions. It has been alleged that the document includes a
precise description of how the alleged criminal scheme was employed as well as its purpose.

Recently, the oversight panel produced documents showing several members of the Biden family and their companies got more than $1 million in more than 15 incremental payments from a Chinese company through a third party.

Last month, the committee also found that Hunter Biden’s business associates made 80 visits to the White House when Biden was vice president.
