Former Hawaii Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard is leaving the Democrat party.
She announced her decision to leave the party on Tuesday though a video posted to Twitter. In the video, Gabbard urged other Democrats to follow her lead.
Since 2002, Gabbard has held several offices as a Democrat. She has served four terms in the U.S. House of Representatives and she was the Vice Chair of the Democratic National Committee from 2013 until 2016.
Gabbard campaigned for president as a Democrat in 2020. Once she dropped out the race, she put her support behind then presidential candidate Joe Biden. She has since been a vocal critic of the president.
