Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) slammed the Biden administration over its latest scandal known as “taco-gate.” In a statement Wednesday, the Texas lawmaker ridiculed Democrat officials for pushing the woke term “Latinx” on the Latino community.
CRUZ: “The Biden White House has time to write speeches at something called a ‘Latinx conference.’ I don’t know what that is…Some White House operative sat down and typed into the teleprompter. ‘This is a good idea to call Hispanics a bunch of tacos’.”pic.twitter.com/X9Ud7JgMOe

“Well Marco and I appreciate being called tacos,” Cruz said sarcastically. “Remember about that speech? That wasn’t a gaffe. That wasn’t Joe Biden going off script. Some White House operative sat down and typed into the teleprompter, this is a good idea to call Hispanics a bunch of tacos.”
The Republican also said First Lady Jill Biden comparing Latinos to tacos was not a good idea. She has since apologized for her recent comments at a Hispanic conference in San Antonio, Texas.
Her press secretary, Michael LaRosa, tweeted the First Lady’s apology for her on Tuesday. The apology came a day after she made the comparison in her speech at the 2022 UnidosUS Annual Conference while talking about UnidosUS President Raul Yzaguirre’s work in the organization.
“Raul helped build this organization with the understanding that the diversity of this community, as distinct as the bodegas of the Bronx, as beautiful as the blossoms of Miami and as unique as the breakfast tacos here in San Antonio, is your strength,” Mrs. Biden said.
The First Lady apologizes that her words conveyed anything but pure admiration and love for the Latino community.

The senator asserted this is why Southern Texas will vote Republican this year despite being a traditionally blue area. Cruz said Democrats are losing support among Latinos due to their misguided and “woke” identity politics.
